Cranky Monkyz!
A downloadable toy
You are a monkey with a typewriter; will you make sense?
This is more of a toy than a game. When I bought the Playdate, I wanted it to pay for itself by developing something people would pay for. I don't think this is it (but every purchase counts!). At any rate, this toy generates text using a Markov chain from a model trained on
- The Wasteland by Elliot
- The complete poetical works of Edgar Allan Poe
- Stray Birds by Tagore
- Ancient Nahuatl poetry (translated to English) by Starner
You crank, words are added or removed. When you're done, you are evaluated according to different criteria. That's it.
I used generative AI for the graphics and manually edited them afterwards. I wrote the code myself and then used an LLM to review and enhance some of it. AI is still not great, but it helped me a little because I'm not very familiar with LUA and it had already taken me over a year of finding time here and there to work on this little project and I just wanted it out there.
